Hacker

This is an interesting example what people are capable of.

I read an article in GQ about a voyeurist hacker, who was breaking into young women's computers and spied on them through their own web-cams. The punch line is: he was a paraplegic, after accidentally been caught  in a drive-by shooting, so he barely ever left his home. He was just sitting in his room, watching these girls for hours and hours. He also sent them threatening messages and blackmailed them into posing naked etc.

Normally I am not a fan of trendy grungy textures, but in this case it works, because a clean digital illustration looked too... well - clean for a creepy kinky theme. So I add no less as three different textures to create an atmosphere that looks dirty enough.  I also decided against showing the guy's face, because I don't want him to look too human, you know, too personal. I think that the scene cropped like this looks less specific and more threatening, although my husband disagrees. But I really didn't want this to come up as a portrait.

The moral of the story is: put a sticker over your webcam.

  3. Yikes, what a bizarre and horrible story. But you captured it so well! The shadows are so ominous. Beautiful lines and drawing style. Great job!

  7. All the textures and filters make me think of mental landscapes, invisible code flying through those cables, his mind - tangible and definitely not healthy. Wonderful image.
