Illustration Friday: Lonely

"There was once a very lovely very frightened girl. She lived alone except for a nameless cat."

Actually, there is no such phrase in the book: only in a movie. With this one exception, I tried to get back to the original and make this illo as close as possible to the source. I did my best making Holly look like she supposed to, as Truman Capote intended. And if you read the novella - or at least the movie's trivia - you know that she looked sort of like Marilyn Monroe, not at all Audrey Hepburn. I also worked hard removing the scene from the stereotypical 60s and put it back into early 40s. Unfortunately, Holly with her very untypical hair style and sort of timeless classy way to dress didn't want to cooperate: she still looked much more fifty-ish than I would like her to. But at least I clark-gabled the hell out of a gentleman caller.
